Staff pooling in healthcare systems – results from a mixed-methods study

This study examines how staff pooling can be used to create a higher service level at predetermined total capacity in the healthcare sector. We develop new empirical knowledge through systematic study, using mixed-methods approach, with preliminary interview followed by principal quantitative survey data from multihospital system. The purpose was explore practical barriers for strategy systems. Three were identified:recruitment difficulties, community view, and specialisation. Significant differences perceived height among these found. results this have important managerial implications systems when implementing approach. contributes existing literature since, best of our knowledge, no previous research has been done where pools are systematically identified holistic approach that includes all professions
